Better Vaccines for a Better World

History

In November 2003, Jorge Osorio and Dan Stinchcomb combined their commitment to improving global public health and their experience in biotechnology and vaccines to create a new company - Inviragen, Inc.

Formed with seed capital from its founders, Inviragen remained a virtual company for its first year. In 2005, Inviragen explored the global vaccine marketplace, identified novel vaccine technology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and formulated its business plan around its first three products - a vaccine to protect against dengue fever, a vaccine to protect against West Nile disease, and a combination plague and smallpox vaccine for biodefense.

In November 2005, Inviragen won the prestigious Venture Showcase Award at the annual BioWest Conference for presenting the most promising business plan to a panel of investors. The meeting was a tipping point for Inviragen. In rapid succession, Inviragen received three grants to fund its vaccine research and development, completed its first round of seed investor funding, joined two technology incubators, opened its Fort Collins facility, hired its first employees, obtained an exclusive license for promising vaccine technology from the CDC, and signed its first manufacturing contract.

To date, Inviragen has raised over $4.4 million in grant and seed investor funding.
