History
Inviragen, Inc. began operations in 2005. Recognizing an opportunity to bridge the gap between vaccine research and product development, the company was formed with a focus on developing vaccines for emerging infectious diseases worldwide. The company obtained an exclusive license to a dengue vaccine from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and advanced its development through the preclinical stages. Inviragen won awards for its innovative business strategies and several grants for its vaccine research and development plans from National Institutes of Health and the Pediatric Dengue Vaccine Initiative. Inviragen (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., formerly known as SingVax Pte. Ltd., was established in 2004 as Singapore’s first vaccine development company. SingVax focused on the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases that are endemic in the Asia Pacific region. Since its inception, the company has assembled a highly skilled and highly specialized team and has developed vaccine candidates to protect against hand, foot and mouth disease and Japanese encephalitis. Inviragen and SingVax merged their complementary vaccine pipelines and their international product development capabilities in September 2009. The combined company is developing a wide range of vaccines for infectious diseases prevalent in emerging economies. Concurrently with the merger, Inviragen raised $15 million in a Series A equity investment from a syndicate of international venture capital investors, including Charter Life Sciences (Palo Alto, CA), Venture Investors (Madison, WI), Bio*One Capital (Singapore) and Phillip Private Equity (Singapore). Inviragen now has research and corporate operations in Fort Collins, Colorado, vaccine development operations in Singapore and vaccine testing capabilities in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to the equity investment, Inviragen has been successful raising over $14 million in grant funding to support vaccine research and product development to date. |
