The basis of every vaccine produced by Inviragen is the safe engineering of viruses to express novel foreign proteins. Using the tools of molecular virology, Inviragen starts with vaccines that have been tested in human clinical studies and then modifies the viruses to express novel antigens that extend their protective potential. Upon administration, the resulting recombinant viral vaccines direct the production of protective antigens.

As a result, Inviragen's recombinant viral vaccines are designed to be safe and induce long-lived antibodies and cell-mediated immunity against the targeted disease agent. In this fashion, Inviragen and its collaborators are developing novel vaccines to protect against worldwide infectious disease threats, such as dengue fever, West Nile disease, and plague/smallpox.
